Little Thunder
For its vivacity, humour and its light, impulsive brushstrokes sketching playful figures, and for the stone canoe carried off like a leaf in the eternal currents of the Mi'kmaq legend which this film brings to life..."
- BEST ANIMATED FILM,
FIRST PEOPLES FESTIVAL

This animated short, inspired by the Mi'kmaq legend The Stone Canoe, explores Aboriginal humour. We follow Little Thunder as he reluctantly leaves his family and sets out on a cross-country canoe trip to become a man. Paton Francis brilliantly animates the work of renowned Mi’kmaq artist Alan Syliboy.
